V/Line has been the backbone of Victoria’s regional public transport system for over 30 years. With a vision to deliver a modern, high-performing railway and coach service, there was a need for their workspaces to also reflect that vision.
The brief to McCormack was to create a new ‘semi-Agile’ workspace for 640 V/Line staff. The space needed to incorporate interconnecting walls, a new internal stairway, multiple fixed and flexible meetings rooms alongside a breakout space.
Lockin Lockers was engaged on behalf of McCormack, and architect Cox to create the integrated laminate office lockers for the new space. In total, a mixture of 392 H4 and H2 lockers with Hafele Tronic+ Locks are installed alongside walls and encased around the large structural columns in the workspace itself. The lockers are finished in Laminex Black and White laminate with black and white vinyl locker numbers.
The project was delivered while V/Line staff carried on their day to day activities. The Lockin team helped McCormack to navigate all challenges, maintain a good relationship with all stakeholders and work around the needs of tenants on floors above and below the works. The end result is a beautifully crafted office fit out with multiple breakout spaces, bright lighting and contemporary finishes that encourage flexible working to support a high-performing workforce.
