FKG Group, in collaboration with Cottee Parker Architects, delivered a new purpose-built district police headquarters designed to support the intensity and pace of operational work. The brief called for a secure, modern environment with a strong focus on durability, clarity and everyday functionality.

As part of the development, Lockin was commissioned to design and manufacture premium custom steel lockers that balanced a clean, minimalist aesthetic with strength, security and long-term reliability.

The project delivered 380 custom lockers, finished in a crisp white powdercoat to create a calm, light-filled transition space. This setting allows officers a moment to pause, reset and prepare at the beginning and end of each shift. A mix of single-door and two-door step lockers, with custom hanging and shelving configurations, was tailored to suit the specific storage needs of police officers. Integrated GPO and USB charging enables secure device storage and charging, while built-in bench seating supports ease of use.

A custom chequer-square perforation pattern references the Battenberg markings used across police forces, subtly embedding identity into the design.

For simplicity and reliability, a dedicated turn-latch key lock system was specified, providing straightforward access for users and efficient facility management. Together, the solution delivers a secure, calming environment where personal items, uniforms and equipment can be stored safely — supporting those who help keep our communities safe, every day.

City of Kingston Office Lockers

This City of Kingston office was redesigned to support a committed workforce working in a busy, flexible workspace hosting multiple collaborative local community projects and priorities at any time.

To help support this, a total of 120 custom steel lockers were strategically distributed across 35 locker banks in common areas for convenient employee access. Designed to complement the light-filled workplace, the lockers feature a perforated finish and a dual-tone powdercoat colour palette that harmonises beautifully with the natural timber panelling used elsewhere throughout the interior.

Configured in a range of sizes, they support flexible needs of an agile workforce. Each unit is fitted with a Lock Focus APEX 3780 locks to provide secure personal storage, while integrated sliding door cabinetry with matching planter boxes help define team zones and enhance the biophilic design of the space.
